I’ve grounded my artistic work in the belief that vibrant stories can activate communities. Working with collaborators across disciplines I seek to create compelling theatre that will resonate with an audience’s lived experiences and will contribute to the health of our society. I value bringing vibrant stories directly to audiences, especially those with limited access to the arts.
As a director I am drawn to contemporary and classic plays that reflect a challenge the community is grappling with and engage the audience with compelling questions. From there I work with collaborators to distill the experience to what is essential by exploring what will excite the audience’s imagination the most and discovering how to bring the full radical presence of the human body into the room.
I also work to embed the play in a broader context, working with community members so that our collective work can be enhanced and amplified. This includes thinking critically about how to respectfully engage the audience, designing companion experiences, and working in non-traditional spaces.
